Mr. Grant Riley Kemp age 79, of Warrensville passed away Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2017 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Margaret Wannamaucher officiating. Burial will follow in the Kemp Family Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2:00-3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Kemp was born in Ashe County on Thursday, January 20, 1938 to the late Roy Clarence and Beatrice Riley Kemp. He served in the United States Army, after the military he graduated from Wilkes Community College with Associate degree in Science and Art. He worked as an alcohol and substance abuse council for New River Mental Health. Grant started his own practice in 1993 as Yadkin Extended Services (YES). He set up and directed Ashe C.A.R.E.S. in September 1979. He is preceded in death by a daughter; Melissa Kemp Coughlan Mr. Kemp is survived by his wife Joanne Hartsoe Kemp, one daughter; Susan Kemp Burcham and husband Jeff of Greensboro, NC, three sisters; Mildred "Millie" Parker of Hickory, Betty Kemp Painter and husband Gene of Creston, and Norma Kemp Jackson and husband Craig of Jefferson, one brother; Ralph Kemp and wife Teresa of Concord, two grandchildren; Grayson Ashley and Macie Burcham, three step children, Jonathan Parker, Sharyn McCoy and Regina McCoy; four step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
