Mr. Clarence Martin Shatley, age 90, of Crumpler, passed away Saturday morning, July 1, 2017 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 3pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Parunak, Rev. Steve Witherspoon and Elder Steve Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1-3pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Shatley was born in Ashe County on February 24, 1927 to the late Troy and Annie Calloway Shatley. He served in the United States Army and he was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed hunting, farming, and skeet shooting. He also cared for his three gardens and collecting clocks. He was a loving husband, father, and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by one brother; Paul Shatley, and five sisters; Corrine Goodman, Gladys S. Willard, Ruth Witherspoon, Josephine Sells, and Helen Williams. Mr. Shatley is survived by his wife; Gladys Burkett Shatley, one son; Robert Shatley of Crumpler, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
