Iva Marie Darnell Blevins, age 87, of Jefferson, died Wednesday morning, February 2, 2011 at her home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. John Elledge, Rev. Chris Goodman, and Minister Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00- 2:00pm, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Blevins was born in Ashe County on September 4, 1923 to the late Tivis Lomax and Lona Rosetta Pennington Darnell. She was the owner of Christian Book Store in West Jefferson from 1974-1987. She was a member of Shelter Baptist Church. Marie loved to sew, crochet and her flowers but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Darnell and Dent Darnell; a sister, Francis Dolinger. Mrs. Blevins is survived by her husband, Ernest G. Blevins, of Jefferson; a son, Ernest "Michael" Blevins and wife, Faye, of Fleetwood; a brother, Ford Darnell and wife, Ruth, of Mouth of Wilson, VA; two grandchildren, Robert Michael Blevins and wife, Sandy, of Burlington, VT; Lisa Watson and husband, Andy, of Deep Gap, NC; five great-grandchildren, Alexis Wright and husband, Kyle, of Fleetwood; Robert Austin, of Burlington, VT ,Caleb, Luke and Benjamin Watson, all of Deep Gap, NC; a step great-grandchild, Ashley Wurth, of Boone, NC; two nieces, Judy Gregg, of Pennsylvania and Janet Farmer, of Millers Creek, NC; three nephews, Max Darnell, Rex Darnell and Lonnie Darnell. The family respectfully requests "No food please". Flowers are accepted. The family will be meeting at the home of Mike and Faye Blevins at 130 Ivy Trail, Fleetwood, NC.
