Mr. Raymond Lee Barker, better known as "Lee" age 60, of Jefferson passed away Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Jones and Rev. Johnny Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Hill Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Barker was born in Ashe County on Thursday, September 6, 1951 to the late Raymond Lee and Lillian Francis Barker. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from Lowe's Hardware. Lee loved his horses and going camping. He was also an avid Duke fan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Barker. Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, Sharon Eller Barker; three daughters, Melissa McCoy and husband, Randy, of North Wilkesboro, LeAnne Bowman and husband, Jeremy, of Lansing and Stephanie Barker, of Jefferson; two sons, Joe Barker and Allen Barker, both of Jefferson; a brother, Steve Barker, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Linda Bare, of Ennice and Dee Barker, of West Jefferson; five grandchildren, Brendon McCoy, Addison McCoy, Leah Severt, Reece Severt and Brooke Vannoy; several nieces and nephews also survive.
