Mr. Vaughn Elmer Perry, age 94, of Creston, passed away Tuesday morning, September 9, 2008 at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 11:00am at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a meal to follow the graveside services at the Riverview Community Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Perry was born in Ashe County on Monday, November 17, 1913 to the late Frank and Maude Perry. She worked as a Coal Miner. He is survived by his wife, Vin Owens Perry of the home; four sons, Marvin Perry and wife, Ramona, of Gainsville, FL, Dwight Perry and wife, Diane, of Rougemont, NC, Vernon Perry and wife, Sandra, of Young Harris, GA and Wayne Perry of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
