Mrs. Nancy Lynn Shoemake Houck, age 58, of West Jefferson passed away Saturday night, October 4, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11:00 at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Steve LeaShomb and Rev. Wayne Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Houck was born in Ashe County on November 8, 1955. Nancy started her business at Ashelande Insurance in 1976, where she was the office manager. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister; and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Houck; two daughters, Stacey Jenkins and husband, Chad, of Crumpler and Alison Sorkin and husband, Aaron, of Westminster, MD; two sons, Christopher Houck, of Ashburn, VA; Benjamin Houck and wife, Katrina Liu, of Philadelphia, PA; her father, Cecil Shoemake and wife, Mary Lou, of Dobson, NC; her mother, Mary "Tootsie" Shoemake, of Warrensville; a brother, Michael Shoemake and wife, Evelyn, of Warrensville; two sisters, Cindy Pugh and husband, Walter, of Crumpler and Judy Hazlewood, of Jefferson; six grandchildren Aaron Sorkin, Jennifer Sorkin, Anna Houck, Caleb Houck, Brett Jenkins, and Emily Sorkin; one special child, Kealeigh Wilkins; a special caregiver, Stacy Parker, of Warrensville; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family respectfully requests no food please.
