Mr. Jessie Don McNeill, better known as “Don” age 83, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 3:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Dollar officiating. Burial will follow in the McNeill Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. McNeill was born in Ashe County on April 2, 1931 to the late Tom and Bessie Miller McNeill. He worked for the North Carolina State Department and enjoyed farming. He is preceded in death by a son, Lacy Don McNeill, two brothers, Wade McNeill and Garl McNeill, and three sisters, Lucy McNeill, Mary Presswood, and Ann Hurley. Mr. McNeill is survived by his wife; Leafie Severt McNeill, two daughters; Nancy Amadore of Winston Salem and Michelle Hernerdez of Wilkesboro; two sisters; Clyde Black of West Jefferson, and Ida Belle Brown of Jefferson; five grandchildren; Brian Lewis, Dustin McNeill, Kendall McNeill, Pamela Lopez, and Jessica Spicer; four great-grandchildren; Kinsey Lewis, Silas McNeill, Riley McNeill, and Jafat Lopez; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
