Mr. Millard Wayne Roten, better known as "Wayne" age 90, of Creston passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Graybeal, Rev. Michael Miller and Rev. Bob Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Roten was born in Ashe County on Thursday, December 13, 1923 to the late Emmitt and Cora Roten. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Asplundh Tree Expert Company, where he worked as a Supervisor. He attended Rich Hill Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Brown Roten, of 64 years of marriage; two daughters, Sarah Roten, of Creston and Linda Trivette, of West Jefferson; four grandchildren, Brandon Trivette, Crystal Reece and husband, Shane, Sherry Miller and husband, Michael and Scottie Maltba; five great-grandchildren, Kierra Trivette, Ethan Reece, Rachael Miller, Jacob Miller and Kaden Miller; several nieces and nephews also survive.
