George Truett Eller Jr., 55, of Lansing, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014, in his home. He grew up in Ashe County, attending Lansing Elementary and Northwest Ashe High Schools, followed by graduation at Appalachian State University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he returned to live in Ashe County, where he had a successful 30-year career at the North Carolina Employment Security Commission/JobLink, where he was known for his kindness and ability to help others. While working full time, he also helped manage a family Christmas tree farm. He was a member of Lansing Methodist Church for over 20 years. He loved Christmas, football, and the beach, where he enjoyed surf fishing. His family was his biggest passion. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Absher Eller of Lansing; his daughter, Sybol Eller; his siblings, Jane Eller Lacy and husband Chuck, Ann Eller, and John Eller and wife Beth; five nieces and nephews; and stepmother Marilyn Jones Eller. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Truett Eller Sr. and Dorothy Peed Eller. Visitation will be at Boone Family Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. ON Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Pete Parish and Rev. Tom Graybeal presiding. Entombment will follow at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum of Prayers.
