Ms. Edna Florence Ashley, age 97, of West Jefferson passed away Sunday morning, November 9, 2014 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Morris and Rev. Martha Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones-Ashley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 12-2pm at First Baptist Church. Ms. Ashley was born in Ashe County on August 16, 1917 to the late Charlie and Lula Roten Ashley. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Don Ashley, Wiley Ashley, Spencer Ashley, Reggie Ashley, Lacy Ashley and infant brother, Oscar Ashely; four sisters, Delray Phillips, Pearl Weaver, Grace Roten and Ethel Richardson. She is survived by a sister; Mary Nell Osborne of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jones-Ashley Cemetery, C/O Bobby Osborne, 2463 Deep Ford Road, Lansing, NC 28643 or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The family will be meeting at the home of Mary Nell Osborne, 2289 Deep Ford Road, Lansing, NC 28643.
