I had the opportunity as a teenager to spend two summers in the care of Uncle George and Aunty Audley back in the 60's.
Uncle George was a man that made his own decisions. He would try anything, especially if he was advised something was not a good idea. He took me on some wild bicycle-built-for-two rides through Savannah,Tenn. I remember being chased by dogs, flying through stop signs and the embarassment of a wipeout on gravel, head over heels into a ditch! He would just get up and carry on as if nothing had happened. He loved to explore and challenge himself and his companions physically. Our family never tires of the tale of marching the entire Canadian branch of the family up a vertical mountainside with no food or water or rest stops. Just a little farther he would say as one after another would fall to their knees in exhaustion!
I remember a man of incredible generosity and a calm demeanor. I never could tell when he was being serious or just pulling my leg. I have wonderful memories of the South - the rivers, the caves and the small mill towns the Jacksons lived in. He was a cherished brother-in-law for my father Ley, whom we lost this past year.
My deepest condolences go out to Audley, Glen, Brenda, Craig and families. You will miss him but you have some very special memories to carry with you - he was one of a kind!
Love,
Cousin Leslie

My dearest cousins, Craig, Sandie, Brenda, Daikee, Glen and Linda. We were saddened to hear of Uncle George's passing. He had a good, long life , and all but one year he spent independently. In fact, it was Uncle George's indomitable spirit that I'll remember in particular. I remember Nick and I watching in amazement, during a visit to his home in 2000, as George pushed a lawnmower at a very precarious angle across his steep hillside property. He was also pushing eighty years of age at the time! But you couldn't stop him. I think he enjoyed surprising people more than any other pasttime. I will also remember his quiet, steadfast love of his wife and family. Rest in Peace Uncle George.
love Lindsey, Nick and kids

Dear Audley, Glen, Brenda, & Craig & their families. We are so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Uncle George will always be remembered for his kindness, gentleness, and zest for life. He loved to organize and plan our family get togethers and we are grateful
for the memories of Montebello, the Gaspe, and his trips up north to visit us all. We had many wonderful dinners with Audley & George where he always had interesting stories to keep us entertained as well as we always came away having learned something new. I will always remember him for the hair raising drives through the mountains when he toured my Mom and I through the hills of North Carolina! He will be missed!
Love Kerry, Mike, Jordan, & Barrett

I spent many years involved with project design at E&B Cowan Montreal, and got to know George well on several projects. I'm glad to see he had a long retirement to enjoy in company with his wife. He was a fine man and a good pulp and paper engineer/manager. I always enjoyed working with him, and enjoyed having a drink with him afterwards too!
