Mr. Grover Franklin Burchette, age 86, of West Jefferson passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Bobby Absher, Elder John Jackson, and Rev. Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Creek United Methodist Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Friday at 10-11AM one hour prior to the funeral at the Boone Family Funeral Chapel. Mr. Burchette was born in Alleghany County on Feburary 13, 1928 to the late Lonnie Burchette and Zenna Clyde Brown. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Kathleen Roland, his step-father; Maynard Halsey, and a sister; Ella Jean Hill. Mr. Burchette is survived by his wife; Mary Ruth Osborne Leek Gentry Burchette, four sons; Steve Burchette and wife Linda of Marion, VA, Carl Burchette and wife Anna of Warrensville, Jeff Burchette and wife Jayna of West Jefferson, and Mark Burchette and wife Kay of North Wilkesboro, two daughters; Lynda Mahaffey and husband Terry of Lansing, and Louise Stout of Crumpler; one special aunt, Madeleine Burchette of Piney Creek; a niece, Ann Lee Kennedy and husband Burt of Piney Creek; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
