Obituary of Rena Mae Bledsoe

Mrs. Rena Mae Houck Bledsoe, age 73, of Todd, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 2014 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00am at Valley Home Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Holmes and Rev. Carroll Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in the family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Bledsoe was born in Ashe County on Monday, January 6, 1941 to the late Everet and Aretta Worley Houck. She was a member of Valley Home Baptist Church. Rena enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her famous banana pudding. She always kept a young attitude and her little giggles kept her family entertained. Her grandchildren would always get off the bus at her house, where she had cookies and soda for them to drink as they watched their cartoons. Rena and Sonny loved to explore and walk through caves. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her husband, Sonny Bledsoe; three sons, Wayne Bledsoe and Billy Bledsoe, both of Todd and Ricky Bledsoe and wife Juanita, of Jefferson; three daughters, Barbara Main and husband, Billy, of West Jefferson, Tina Bledsoe, of Mooresville and Jo Ann Watson and husband, Harold, of Roaring Rivers; a brother, Wayne Houck and wife, Michelle, of Wisconsin; two sisters, Sue Moss and husband, Larry, of High Point and Denise Reynolds and husband, Bobby, of Martinsville, VA; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
