Mr. Billy "Bill" Eugene Tucker, age 67, of Lansing, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Hospital in Mountain Home, TN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meadowview Mennonite Church with Rev. Larry Shepherd & Rev. Dan Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Tucker was born in Ashe County, NC on Wednesday, July 9, 1941 to the late Wayne Orville and Ethel Louella Greer Tucker. Bill served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. He was a life-long farmer, an avid fisherman, sportsman, hunter and jokester. He was also very active in the Meadowview Mennonite Church. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Frances Thacker Tucker; two sons, Phillip Tucker of Lansing, NC, John Pierce of Rockville, MD; two daughters, Sheila Tucker of Lansing, NC, Julia Brown of Woodbridge, VA; seven grandchildren, Christin Mitchell, Chelsea Craine, Chloe Craine, Codie Tucker, Tobie Tucker, Kirby Rucker and Alexander Brown; several nieces and nephews also survive.
