Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth McCoy Turnmire, age 93, of Warrensville passed away Saturday afternoon, January 3, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. David Lyalls, Rev. Tommy Dollar, Brother Ralph Smith, Rev. Frank Dixon, and Rev. Keith Woodie officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 6-8pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Turnmire was born in Ashe County on September 6, 1921 to the late Guilford McCoy and Ellen Osborne McCoy. She was a member of Oak Grove Mountain Union Baptist Church. She was known for her good cooking and cooking for the family on Sundays. She retired from Sprague after 25 years. She enjoyed working in flowers and her quilting. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Riley James Turnmire and a son; Roger Smith Turnmire. Mrs. Turnmire is survived by four sons; Joe Turnmire and wife Mary of Warrensville, Howard Turnmire and wife Kathleen of Warrensville, Ralph Turnmire and wife Sophia of West Jefferson, and Jim Turnmire and wife Gail of West Jefferson, six daughters; Shirley Dixon and husband Frank of Sparta, Frances Pugh and husband Danny of Piney Creek, Hazel Hopkins and husband Roy of Crumpler, Patsy Walton of Warrensville, Brenda Lovelace and husband Randy of Ennice, and Trish Grogan and husband Chris of Warrensville, twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
