Mr. Robert Lee Pennington, better known as “Big Daddy” age 79, of Jefferson passed away Sunday, January 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Steve LeaShomb and Rev. Russell Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Pennington was born in Ashe County on April 5, 1935 to the late Walter Avery Pennington and Mamie Grace Sharpe. He loved bluegrass music and painting scenery. He is preceded in death by three brothers; Howard Pennington, Donald Pennington, and Earl Pennington, Sr. He is survived by two sisters; Grace Teaster and husband Willard of Hendersonville, and Mary Wyatt of Jefferson; and two caregivers, Joyce Richardson and Sarah Osborne; several nieces and nephews also survive.
