Mrs. Maxie Marie Miller, age 94, of Ellenboro, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2015. She was born on June 29, 1920 to the late Jesse and Melinda Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Miller; a daughter, Barbara Ruth Barker; a grandson, Robert Miller; great grandsons, Jonathan Miller and Jaxon Miller; two brothers, Davis Black and Carl Black; a sister, Ruby Furr; a step sister, Georgie Oliver. She was a native of Ashe County and moved to Rutherford County in 1975. Maxie was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, who enjoyed caring for her family, reading, specially her Bible daily, sewing, quilting, gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was a blessing to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by five sons, Robert Wade Miller (Helen), of Ellenboro, Junior Ray Miller (Linda), of Ellenboro, James Wayne Miller (Shirley), of Glendale Springs, Raymond Miller (Brenda), of Ellenboro and Earl Lee Miller (Teresa), of Glendale Springs; a daughter, Ella Mae Hodges (Dennis), of Hendersonville, NC; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; twelve great, great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home, West Jefferson, NC with the Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
