Obituary of Paul Allen Smith

Mr. Paul Allen Smith, Sr., better known as "Big Paul," age 63, of Fleetwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family and friends in heaven Friday night, April 17, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Pugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on Saturday, September 8, 1945, to the late Rev. Marvin Crawford Smith and his mother who survives, Viola Mae Groves Smith. Paul attended church at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church where his father, Marvin preached for many years. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith was a truck driver for close to twenty years. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tonya Denise Smith; two brothers, Larry and Crawford Smith; one sister, Gwen Chadwell. He is also survived by one son, Paul Allen Smith, Jr., better known as "Little Paul" and wife, Kathy, of Laurel Springs; a sister, Nancy Smith of Fleetwood; three step-grandchildren, Shelby, Danielle and Emmanuel Pennington; seven nieces and three nephews also survive. Paul would have also wanted to include his good friends, Tommy Jones; Claude, Ruth and Jamie Billings. A special thanks would like to be expressed to his ex-wife, Jean and her husband Ted Thompson.
