Mr. Vernon Ray Denny, age 69, of North Wilkesboro, formerly of Ashe County passed away Wednesday morning, January 28, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 8:00pm at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Goss and Pastor David Sparks officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00am at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Grassy Creek. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, January 30, 2015 two hours prior to the funeral service at the church. Mr. Denny was born in Wilkes County on Thursday, August 23, 1945 to Jessie Lonnie and Dora Brinegar Denny. He was an Automotive Mechanic. He was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. Vernon enjoyed playing his guitar and fishing. He always had a good sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Margie Eastridge Denny, of 45 years of marriage; two sons, Lonnie Denny and wife, Tina, of Trenton, GA and Eddie Denny and wife, Amy, of North Wilkesboro; five grandchildren; a great- grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted.
