Mrs. Ethel Mae Harless Burchett, age 99, of West Jefferson passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 2015 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin York officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendly Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2015prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Burchett was born in Ashe County on January 24, 1916 to the late Cicero and Dorenda Absher Harless. She was the last charter member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and working in her rose garden. She was known for her delicious coconut cream pies. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Jack Burchett, Richard Burchett and Dane Burchett. Mrs. Burchett is survived by her husband, Rev. Bill Burchett, of 75 years of marriage; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family respectfully requests no food, flowers or memorial but prayers are appreciated.
