Mrs. Bonnie Marie Bagley Neaves, age 83, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00pm at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Goss, Rev. David Blackburn and Rev. Lonnie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Neaves was born in Macon, Georgia on January 12, 1932 to the late Leo Vinson and Ruth Cheatham Bagley. She was a member Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church; where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the WMU. Bonnie retired from the Board of Elections, where she was the Director. She had many hobbies such as crocheting and making mints for weddings and showers. She enjoyed watching the birds and fishing at the beach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Darwin Neaves. Mrs. Neaves is survived by four daughters, Rita Shatley and husband, Terry, of Jefferson, Deborah Pennington and husband, Dennis, of Crumpler, Nora Key and husband, Dillion, of Dallas, TX and Melissa Cox and husband, Barry, of Jefferson; three sisters, Carolyn Carstensen of Riverside, CA, Dorothy Sawyer, of Lakeland, FL and Augusta Stefko, of Elyria, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Ben Shatley, Sarah Martin, Walter Pennington and wife, Courtney, Justin Key and wife, Lindsey, Jordan Key, Bonnie Olivia Cox and Pierce Cox; five great-grandchildren, Hayley Martin, Rachele Martin, Lyndon Martin Avery Pennington and Trent Pennington; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the: Gideon's International, PO Box 993, West Jefferson, NC 28694 or Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640. The pallbearers are as follow: Ben Shatley, Walter Pennington, Justin Key, Pierce Cox, Lyndon Martin, Chris Neaves and Jordan Key to play the bag pipes.
