Mrs. Mary Esther Taylor (McCoy) died peacefully in her home on Monday, April 6, 2015 in West Jefferson, NC at the age of 91. Mrs. Mary Esther Taylor is survived by her husband Paul Edwin Taylor, of West Jefferson, NC; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Edwin Taylor Jr. of West Jefferson, NC; two granddaughters, Shea Taylor Cullifer of West Jefferson, NC and Mandy Taylor Jacobson of Durham, NC; one grandson, Paul Matthew Taylor of Apex, NC; and seven great grandchildren; also survived by her two sisters, JoAnn Owens and husband, Jay of Creston, NC and Myrtle Ruth Porter of Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews most of whom reside in North Carolina, Ohio, and Oregon. Esther was a valuable woman in her home, her workplace, and in her community. She was a hardworking and excellent woman who served her family and others throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with friends and also enjoyed shopping and traveling to Ohio to visit her sister. She was a generous and kind person who opened her home to family, friends, and strangers where her gift of hospitality made all feel welcomed and loved. She loved the Lord and was a very active and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church and later the Church of the Nazarene both located in West Jefferson, NC and often volunteered at church events as well as volunteering at the ARC (Ashe Really Cares) She truly resembled the woman of Proverbs 31 and served as an inspiration for all who knew her. A funeral is scheduled for 3:00pm on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Boone Family Funeral Home in West Jefferson, NC. Rev. Jack Miller will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be appreciated.
