Mr. Freddie Holman, Jr, age 77, of Todd, passed away Monday morning, May 11, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:00pm at South Fork Baptist Church with Pastor David Cooper, Rev. Herbert McCoy, and Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Cemetery in Todd. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Holman was born in Ashe County on Saturday, July 17, 1937 to the late Fred Robert and Ethel Parsons Holman. He retired from Broyhill Furniture after working 44 years. He attended South Fork Baptist Church. Freddie enjoyed working outdoors. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Holman and Thomas Holman; two sisters, Polly Bledsoe and Lucy Jones. Mr. Holman is survived by his wife, Grace Eldreth Holman, of 57 years of marriage; two sons, Timothy Holman, of Meat Camp and Ben Holman and wife, Vickie, of Todd; a brother, Jim Holman and wife, Debbie, of Todd; two sisters, Dare Jones, of Boone and Joann Wilcox and husband, Eller, of Lenoir; four grandchildren: a special grandchild, Avery Holman, Lisa Miller and husband, Alex, Rebecca Austin and Ryan Austin; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Hartman, Annabelle Hartman and Miles Hartman; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Howell Cemetery, c/o Larry Trivette, 10550 NC Hwy. 194 North, Todd, NC 28684. The family will be meeting at the home place: 8981 Three Top Road in Todd.
