Rev. Lonnie L. Pruitt, age 75, of Laurel Springs, met the Angels on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dayton Roten, Rev. Ray Shumate, Rev. Gary Benesh and Speaker Hoke Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheets-Pruitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Monday, two hours prior to the funeral service. Lonnie loved the outdoors where he spent most of his life working. After many years as a heavy equipment mechanic he retired and became a minister. During his ministry he served 9 years as pastor of Ebenezer Community Church in Laurel Springs. His happiest moments were spent in the pulpit and with his family, Rev. Pruitt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Pruitt of the home; two sons, Mickey Pruitt of Grassy Creek and Greg Pruitt of Laurel Springs; one daughter, Tammie Pruitt Coffey and husband Paul of Laurel Springs; three grandchildren, MeLane Barber and husband Jamie of North Wilkesboro, Raven Pruitt and Michael Pruitt of Jefferson; two great-grandchildren, Caden Barber and Mallory Poe; one brother, Jerry Pruitt and wife Joyce of Laurel Springs; seven sisters, Reba Leighton, Leora Smithey, Marjorie Brown, Mary Hubbard, Charlotte Cousins, Susie Joines and husband Ray all of Wilkesboro, and Debbie Brown and husband Jim of Greensboro; several nieces and nephew also survive.
