Mrs. Ophelia Dare Phipps Wood, age 95, of Mouth of Wilson, VA passed away Sunday morning, May 24, 2015 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Wood was born in Ashe County on Monday January 26, 1920 to the late Charlie and Margaret Cox Phipps. She retired from Sprague Electric. She is a member of Greenwood Methodist Church. Ophelia enjoyed quilting and doing crafts. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kermit Wood. Mrs. Wood is survived by a son, Jerry Wood and wife, Rita, of Grassy Creek; a sister, Corrine Bare, of Crumpler; a grandchild, Shelia Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Payne, Ashli Anderson, and Emma Anderson; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family respectfully requests no food please! Flowers will be appreciated. The family will be meeting at the home of Jerry and Rita Wood at 1733 Joe Thomas Road in in Grassy Creek.
