Mrs. Betty Lou Shelton Pennington, age 75, of Creston passed away Saturday afternoon at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 12 at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. J.B. Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Maines Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 on Wednesday; one hour prior to the funeral services. Mrs. Pennington was born in Ashe County on April 14, 1940 to the late Haze and Ozell Roark Shelton. She enjoyed working in her flower beds. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by a sister; Linda Shelton. Mrs. Pennington is survived by her husband; Oscar Bruce Pennington, two sons; Richard Pennington and wife Melissa of North Wilkesboro, and Earl Pennington of Creston, two brothers; J.B. Shelton and wife Nell of Creston, and Randy Shelton of Lenoir, two sisters; Chris Shelton of Lenoir and Sue Wallace of Shady Valley, TN, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
