Mr. Wiley Bronard Allen, age 92, of Mt Airy, formerly of Jefferson passed away Sunday morning, June 14, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. Rev. Larry Shepherd will be officiating the services. Mr. Allen was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, August 8, 1922 to the late Francis and Dare Bard Allen. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. During most of his life, he worked in construction running heavy machinery. Bronard was a hard-working man. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Austin Allen; a daughter, Sylvia Ann Allen; a brother, Francis Clifton "Cliff" Allen; a sister, Ruby Allen Parsons. Mr. Allen is survived by a son, Robert F Allen and wife Kathy of Mt. Airy, NC; two grandsons, Will Allen and wife, Jennifer, of Pilot Mountain, NC and Wes Allen and wife, Ann, of Oviedo, Florida; five great-grandchildren, Austin Allen, Lane Allen, Layton Allen, Levi Banks and Lexi Allen; several nieces and nephews also survive.
