Mr. Russell Bard, Jr. age 60, of Crumpler died Thursday, August 27, 2015. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be private. Mr. Bard was born in Ashe County on April 7, 1955 to the late Russell Burton Bard and Virginia Phillips Bard. He was an Agricultural Farmer. He grew many things but mostly pumpkins and watermelons. He was always willing to give a helping hand to others. He was a loving father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Luke Fairchild. Mr. Bard is survived by a son, John Bard, of Carolina Beach, NC; three daughters, Amy Bard, of West Jefferson, Becky Fairchild and husband, Bill, of Crumpler and Rachel Brown and husband, Jason, of Todd; his fiancé, Marie Phillips; three sisters, Grace Wood and husband, Ron of Winston-Salem, Betty Garner and husband, Joe of Hickory and Joann Lyalls and husband, Garland of West Jefferson; six grandchildren, Bailey Fairchild, Jake Neaves, Avery Neaves, Kane Randall, Nate Brown and Jacob Brown; several nieces and nephews also survive. Paddy Road in West Jefferson (on the backstreet).
