Sally I am sad to hear Dr Z is gone, and so sorry for your loss. He was the best boss I ever had at the VA, and we built a solid friendship too. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

I am sure that I speak for the Medical Technologist students at Duke Medical Center. He made microbiology interesting. That is a significant accomplishment because it can put you to sleep. I met him when I was a student back in 1990. I got to know him much better when I served as area director for SEACM in 1995. I learned more there than in the Duke classroom. I have worked as a microbiologist for 25 years. I doubt that I will ever meet anyone as fun, smart, and sweet as him again. He will be missed.

Sally, he was one of the best! He is a major part of the reason that SEACM is the organization it is today. I'm truly sorry he is gone.

Pete was a wonderful friend and even though we had lost communications over the years after his retirement I often remember all fun the group created!
Love to Sally and I will keep him in my thoughts - so he continues to lives in our memories.

I'll miss Pete. He took this new-born Micro Ph.D. under his wing and guided him through the maze known as the VA. He taught me to take it serous, but nottoo seriously.

I just learned of Pete's death through the ASM. He was instrumental in developing my interest in Clinical Microbiology when I was a resident at Duke. I am saddened to hear of his passing, but proud to say that I knew him. I was an honor to have worked with him.

For some reason I thought of Pete today - we were friends at KU in a Microbiology class. Over the years I occasionally wondered what he was up to since we lost touch after KU. I am really pleased to see that he has done so well with his life and regret that we did not keep in touch.
I am retired now and live in Tasmania whioch is niot much like Kansa.
Vale, Pete
