Miss. Jewel Arlene Roten, age 87, of Hillview Family Care, formerly of the Buffalo Community passed away Friday afternoon, September 25, 2015 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 1PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Houck officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-1 on Monday at Boone Family Funeral Home. Miss. Roten was born in Ashe County on January 20, 1928 to the late James Roby and Elizabeth Roten. She enjoyed Gospel music and loved the Lord. She loved her family and will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by three sisters; Cary Campbell, Marie Ashley, and Ruth Calhoun, and three brothers; Reese Roten, Raleigh Roten, Warner Roten. Miss Roten is survived by thirteen nieces and nephews; Robert Campbell of PA, Louise Heflin of PA, Darlene Franklin of Maryland, Claudine Turnmire of West Jefferson, Willadean Calhoun of West Jefferson, J.R. Roten of West Jefferson, Joseph Calhoun of Michigan, Jerry Calhoun of West Jefferson, Janette Danielson of West Jefferson, Ruby McBride of SC, Walter Roten of SC, Mary Mickleboro, GA, and Ellis Roten of Wilkesboro, and special caregivers; Debbie Hart and Betty Calhoun.
