Mr. Donald Joe Parsons, better known as "Don" age 72 of West Jefferson passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. Roger B. Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Obids Country Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Parsons was born in Ashe County on January 4, 1943 to the late Fred Raymond and Mattie Clyde Owens Parsons. He was owner and operator of Parsons Farms. He was an outdoorsman; enjoyed riding horses and his four- wheeler, fishing and hunting. He raised cabbage, beans and tobacco for many years. Don was a hardworking man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Jean Lyalls Parsons. Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife, Phyllis Vinson Parsons; two sons, Joey Parsons and wife, Jackie of Crumpler and Matthew Baker and wife, Laurel, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Shirley Powers of West Jefferson and Judy Watson and Ronnie Sheets, of Laurel Springs; a grandson, Cooper Parsons; several nieces and nephews also survive.
