Mrs. Ruby Lillian Greer Denny, age 101, of Lansing passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hillview Family Care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11AM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Shepherd, Rev. Dan Hess, and Rev. Gary Gambill officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 7:00-9:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Denny was born in Ashe County on January 18, 1914 to the late Madison and Neva Wolfe Greer. She married her loving husband, Dolphus Denny in 1931. She was a Foster Grandmother for 13 years; she was also known as “Granny Denny”. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and cooking for her family on Sundays. She loved the Lord and was a member of Rainbow Mennonite Church. Mrs. Denny is preceded in death by her husband Dolphus Grady Denny, two sons; Bruce and Charles Denny, two daughters; Clara Denny and Doris Shupe, five sisters, and three brothers. She is survived four sons; Doyal Denny and wife Jean of Lansing, Jim Denny and wife Rosemary of Knoxville, TN, Larry Denny and wife Sue of Lansing, and Gary Denny and wife Carma of Piedmont, SC, thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
