I remember stopping by Millie and A.T's house frequently when Millie was pregnant with Beth. I was a college student passing through on weekends but would stop over to visit. He was a very anxious young father who became a very doting daddy and grand-dad. I will miss him.

I loved visiting Millie and A.T's mountaintop house near Boone. A.T. always kept the trail cleared and had stories to share about wildlife in the area.

We all should love and revere the great outdoors as much as A.T. He knew the healing power of hiking in the mountains and appreciating the beauty.
I shall remember A.T. getting tickled at his own stories and laughing before he could get to the end . . .
May the Good Lord Bless his family and set his soul free in the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Love & Peace,
Ann & Frank

Psalms 34:18 says "God is near to those broken hearted; and to those crushed in spirit he saves." I hope you find peace of mind knowing God will be there for you. My deepest condolences.

Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We had lost touch after you all moved away from our neighborhood. We have always thought so much of you both. You all were great neighbors. My husband and I were talking about you all a few days ago and we had no idea he had been sick. I would have gone by the hospital. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. Love and Prayers.

For those who do not know, I grew up with Beth - we have known each other since preschool, I guess. We practically lived at each other's houses growing up and I felt like AT was a father to me too. I have been flooded with memories of AT lately. Every day I remember something funny he said or did. I loved his laugh... lots of times he was laughing at me... "Oh, Jenny..." he would chuckle, after I tripped over something or goofed something up... He taught me how to enjoy the fine taste of lightly breaded okra, how to keep birds from darting into my windows, which grapes make the best wine, that mice love peanut butter and just about everything about the great outdoors. He shared with us his unique way of handling life's situations and was an wonderful role model for beth and myself. I like to think I am a different and better person after having spent so much time with AT. I hope to take what he taught me about life and life's lessons and teach my own children those same things. I wish for so many things... for another hour with him talking about the birds and the bunnies, for another story about his time in the war, for another hug. I loved him dearly and will miss him so much. I am so thankful I have such wonderful memories of my time with him. Goodbye Papa AT, I love you...
