To the Goss Family, Steve and I graduated from Ashe Central in 1968. He was very kind and gentle person even in the young years that we knew each other, he was great football player and basketball player, everyone really liked him, he was always good to everybody, I talked with him a lot when he was in the Senate and he would stop by my house when he was in town, we talked about his mission work in Japan and the things that was going on in the Senate, he was very dedicated to the people of his District, and most of all he was very dedicated to the Lord, he was surely be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Please accept my sincere sympathy. I was fortunate enough to get to know Mr. Goss while he was receiving radiation. I was truly amazed at how he could smile in the face of such hardship. He was a true public servant, and his concern for his fellow man was evident every time I saw him. His was a life well lived.

Kelly, I met your dad when we were attempting to get assistance with intersection of Bamboo and Deerfield Roads. He was so kind, understanding and instrumental in getting Three Way Stop installed there. Again when I was volunteering at Senior Expo at Boone Mall on behalf of Donate Life he was very considerate of those suffering with health issues. A True Christian Gentleman I was honored to meet. Dear Phyllis and family,
Tears of sorrow flow for the loss of Steve, but tears of joy flow knowing that he is at peace in the loving arms of Jesus. I have such good memories of the time we had working at the Legislature when we started together for his first term. We agreed that we made a great team and had many laughs--he was a quick learner in politics. His goal was to help all the people in his district and he did just that with great energy and dedication. Dear Phyllis and family....
My heart aches for all the anxiety, trauma, you all have been through! I hope and pray
you can get through the next days/weeks just remembering the amazing man Steve was, how smart, what an amazing communicator, what an amazing Christian....a good, good man who touched the lives of so many and whose persona will NEVER be forgotten.
He was so calm, so ABLE, so quietly reassuring...even his voice resonated with godly
