Mrs. Dorothy Bare Brooks, age 79, of Lansing died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Sunday; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Brooks was born on January 11, 1936. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing by the river and riding around in the golf cart. She is survived by; her husband, Larry Brooks; one daughter, Linda Badger and husband Jeff of Jefferson; one step-daughter, Sandy and Laurie Brooks of Big Pine Key, Florida; one granddaughter; Canzada Lyall and husband James of West Jefferson; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Lyall of West Jefferson; and a special dog, Cowboy. The family will be meeting at the home of Jeff and Linda Badger at 5229 US Hwy 221 North in Jefferson.
