Mr. Danny Lee Sturgill, age 63, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday night, January 12, 2016 at NC Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Roten and Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Sturgill was born in Ashe County on Sunday, July 20, 1952 to the late John Arvil Sturgill and Ruby Killen Sturgill. He was owner and operator Sturgill Hardwood. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all he enjoyed his family; spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Veler. Mr. Sturgill is survived by his wife of 40 years of marriage, Brenda Wood Sturgill; two sons, Danny Lee Sturgill, Jr. and wife, Shelley, of West Jefferson and Jason Sturgill and wife, Brooke, of West Jefferson; a daughter , Natasha Taylor, of West Jefferson; his mother and step father, Ruby and Wade Simmons, of King, NC; two brothers, John Arvil Sturgill, Jr., of West Jefferson and Richard Sturgill, of West Jefferson; five grandchildren Hunter Ethan Taylor, McKenzie Sunshine Taylor, Austin Riley Taylor, Tempie Sue Yang Sturgill and Easton Avery Sturgill; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
