Mr. George Douglas Bowlin, age 74, of Laurel Springs passed away Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 12PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Peak Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Bowlin was born in Ashe County on December 23, 1941 to the late Harrison and Pearl Osborne Bowlin. He retired as a mechanic from Ashe County Ford. He is preceded in death by his wife; Mildred Darnell Bowlin on October 1, 2011, and a son; Gerold Bowlin. He is survived by one son; D.J. Bowlin and fiancé Heather of Laurel Springs, his fiancé; Jenny Griffin of Wilkesboro, two sisters; Wilma Combs and husband Bill of Laurel Springs and Virginia Wyatt and husband Van of Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Samantha and Macie Bowlin, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
