Mr. Elmer Dean Testerman, age 75, of Grassy Creek passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy McClure and Rev. Wayne Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Baptist Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm on Friday; one hour prior to the funeral service. The family requests that food be brought to the fellowship building at Baptist Chapel Church after the funeral service. Mr. Testerman was born in Ashe County on March 6, 1940 to the late Lacy Carroll and Eva Segraves Testerman. He was a Tobacco Farmer. He enjoyed fishing in the creek below his house in his spare time. He was a kind neighbor and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kay Testerman; a special friend, Nell Pollard. Mr. Testerman is survived by three daughters, Linda Roten and fiancée, Roger, of Hickory, NC, Brenda Brooks and husband, Donald, of Lansing and Dena Arnett and husband, Marty, of Crumpler; a brother, Harold Testerman and wife, Glenna, of West Jefferson; mother of his children, Retta Phipps, of Crumpler; three granddaughters; two grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; two step granddaughter; a step great grandson also survive.
