Mrs. Louise Payne Taylor, age 85, of West Jefferson passed away Monday afternoon, February 1, 2016 at her daughter's home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00pm at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tom Vestal officiating. Mrs. Taylor was born in Ashe County on May 14, 1930 to the late Fred and Josie Houck Payne. She worked as a Supervisor at Hanes Mfg. Company. She also worked as Secretary/Treasurer of Ray Taylor's Drilling Company. Louise was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the banjo and autoharp. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden and painting. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Counsel Taylor on June 17, 1999 and a granddaughter, Megan Sunshine Coldiron on March 30, 2002; two brothers, Dwight Payne and Spencer Payne. Mrs. Taylor is survived by two sons, Ronnie Taylor and Shawn Taylor, both of West Jefferson; a daughter, Greathel Coldiron and husband, Rick, of West Jefferson; a sister, Bertha Mae Wilcox, of Elkin; four grandchildren, Chandra Coldiron, Hunter Taylor, McKenzie Taylor and Austin Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Ellie Pierce, Maggie Pierce and Mollie Pierce; her faithful companion dog, Peak-a-Boo; several nieces and nephews also survive.
