Mr. Claude Elvin Eldreth, better known as "Elvin", age 64 of Jefferson died Monday morning, May 18, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 11am at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kirby McNeill and Rev. Warner Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the Ham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Eldreth was born in Ashe County on Monday, January 29, 1945 to the late Vance and Lessie Ham Eldreth. He retired from Gate's Rubber Company. He was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. He was a fan of Carolina football, loved to fish and coach little league. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Eldreth; a sister, Mearlynn Darnell; a nephew, Larry Dishman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Eller Eldreth; a son, Mike Eldreth of Jefferson; a daughter, Joyce Shatley and husband, Dana, of Jefferson; a brother, Herbert Eldreth and wife, Mary, of Lenoir; two sisters, Tina Dishman and husband, Don, of Lenhartsville, PA and Ermalee Shepherd and husband, Larry, of Statesville; two grandchildren, Brandon Shatley and Kelsey Eldreth; several nieces and nephews also survive.
