Mrs. Pauline Shoemaker Barnes, age 91, of Crumpler, died Wednesday morning, May 20, 2009 at Segraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Barnes was born in Ashe County to Andrew Rod and Nella Belvins Shoemaker. She worked as Register Nurse and taught nursing for seventy-one years in Ashe County. Pauline touched and helped many lives. She was a member of Shelter Baptist Church She is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Elizabeth Berry and husband, Mark, of Crumpler and Betty Sue Testerman, of Ruidoso, New Mexico; a sister, Elizabeth Reider of Rising Sun, Maryland; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; fourteen nieces and nine nephews also survive.
