Mr. David Martin Boyer, Jr. better known as "Dave" age 56, of Lansing, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday night, March 26, 2016at Watauga Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 11:00am at Tuckerdale Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Shepherd and Rev. Joe Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Boyer was born in Port Smith, Virginia on Thursday, December 3, 1959 to David Martin Boyer, Sr. and to the late Shirley Ann Rhodes Boyer. Dave served in the United States Navy, during the Gulf War. He was owner/operator of his own rig; where he drove long distance. He was a member of Tuckerdale Baptist Church; he loved the Lord and his church. He showed kindness to everyone and always was willing to give a helping hand. When he was younger he went fishing with his father every Saturday. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors in his spare time. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Powers Boyer; a son, David Boyer, III and wife, Sharon, of East Bend, NC; a daughter, Kim Johnson and husband, Rodney, of Lansing; his father, David (Dave) Martin Boyer, Sr. of Lansing; a brother, Doug Boyer and wife, Susan, of Northeast, Maryland; a sister, Donna Boyer, of Middletown, DE; four grandchildren, Noah Johnson, Sara Johnson, David Boyer, IIII and Mary Boyer; one aunt, Gay Rose, of Warrensville, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
