Mrs. Mamie Louise Johnson Hardin, age 79, of West Jefferson, died Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Kevin York and Rev. Rex Eldreth officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardin Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6:30-8:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Hardin was born in Ashe County on May 27, 1936 to the late Vance Elighu and Sallie Sturgill Johnson. She worked as a Nurse's Aide until her children were born then she stayed at home. She was an active member at Friendly Grove Baptist Church; where she also sung in the choir. She had many hobbies such as quilting, crocheting and working in her flower garden. But most of all she loved her family. She was a wonderful cook and cared deeply for her family. She kept the neighbor's children and looked after the shut in's in the neighborhood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Jack Hardin; three sons, Eddie Hardin and wife, Susan, of Hampstead, NC, Rick Hardin and wife, Susie, of Warrensville and Steven Hardin and wife, Michelle, of West Jefferson; three brothers, Bob Johnson, of West Jefferson, Mack Johnson, of West Jefferson and Raymond Johnson and wife, Darlene, of Jefferson; a sister, Irene Baldwin and husband, Crick, of Jefferson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
