Obituary of Mildred Estelle Revels
Mrs. Mildred Estelle Thomas Revels, age 92, of Whitetop, Virginia, formerly of Durham, NC, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 12:00pm at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Harvey Atkinson and Pastor Dan Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cole Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Tuesday; one hour prior to the funeral service.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 2:00pm at Guess Road Baptist Church, 3102 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27712.
Mrs. Revels was born in Wake County, November 10, 1923 to the late Junie and Maggie Holmes Thomas. She was a Homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family; she was famous for her fried chicken. She loved taking care and looking after her family; they were her focus point. She was a long time member of Guess Road Baptist Church in Durham, NC.
She is survived by a son, Tom Revels and wife, Sue, of Whitetop, VA; a daughter, Sandra Revels Peters and husband, Larry, of Durham, NC; two sisters-in law, Francis Thomas, of Raleigh, and Gladys Thomas, of Augusta, GA; seven grandchildren, Maggie Weinstein and husband, Jason; Fran Collier and husband, Derek; Danny Peters; Jennifer Healey and husband; Sean, Derek Revels and wife, Liz; Byron Revels and Colin Revels; nine great-grandchildren; Ethan Weinstein, Sydney Weinstein, Ayden Weinstein, Jase Collier, Austin Peters, Willa Healey, Hagen Healey, Ashlynn Revels, and Emma Revels. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
