Mrs. Osa Lea Brooks Pennington, age 78, of Warrensville passed away Thursday morning, June 2, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 4:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00-4:00pm; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Pennington was born in Ashe County on June 11, 1937 to the late Thomas and Francis Brooks. She retired from Leviton Mfg. and working 30 plus years. She was a hard, hard worker. She worked in her garden and tobacco. She loved to play Bingo. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carlton Russell Pennington. Mrs. Pennington is survived by a daughter, Terry Mabe and husband, Jeff, of Warrensville; a brother, Wade Brooks and wife, Jeanette, of Deep Gap; two sisters, Dempsey Brooks Melarath and Ethel Brooks Barker, both of Oxford, PA; two grandchildren, Chris Pennington and Dustin Jones, both of Warrensville; four great-grandchildren, Canyon Pennington, Kye Pennington, Kailey Jones and Keira Jones; two step great-grandchildren, Caleb Cooper and Cody Cooper; several nieces and nephews also survive.
