Rev. Reeves Jones, age 83, of Laurel Springs passed away Monday afternoon, June 13, 2016 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Scottsville Baptist Church with Pastor Dana Hines, Pastor Tommy Wurth and Pastor Dennis Eller officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jones was born in Ashe County on July 8, 1932 to the late William Oscar and Lintie Lou Sawyer Jones. He was a minster for over 65 years and of the 65 years he pastored Scottsville Baptist Church for 50 years. He was a godly man always willing to help people, if no more than to say a prayer for them. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Jones and James R. Jones; three sisters, Renia Ward, Georgia Miller and Ruth Pugh. Rev. Jones is survived by his wife, of 64 years of marriage, Margaret Suitt Jones, two daughters, Janet Segraves and husband, Alan, of Grassy Creek and Judy Hines and husband Dana, of Hays, NC; three grandchildren, Darrell Segraves and wife, Lori of Crumpler, Stephen Hines and wife, Michele of Millers Creek and Heather Whittington and husband, David of Raleigh; five great-grandchildren, Darbie Segraves, Darrah Segraves, Bradeck Hines, Madison Hines and Cullen Whittington; a step great grandchild, Nathanial Miller; several nieces and nephews also survive.
