Mrs. Opal Edna Lawrence Roark, age 89, of Creston passed away Tuesday evening, July 26, 2016 at Carolina Healthcare System Lincoln. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie McCoy and Rev. Rhonda Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Roark was born in Ashe County on March 15, 1927 to the late Bradley and Mae Rash Lawrence. She retired from Sprague Electric. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time shopping. She is preceded in death by her husband; Clayborne Eugene Roark. She is survived by three sons; Mike Roark and wife Martha of Lincolnton, Rex Roark and wife Sheila of Creston, and Jerry Roark and wife Debbie of Hendersonville, two sisters; Linda Woodard and husband Ernie of Three Top, and Mary Joe Moses of Lenoir, two brothers; Kermit Lawrence and wife Ruthela of West Jefferson, and Hugh Lawrence of Lenoir, six grandchildren; Kimberly Young, David Roark, Jada Marulanda, Casey Roark, Jessica Jordan, and Ashley Roark, three-great-grandchildren; Parker Young, Blakely Miller, and Kaiden Miller, and one great-grandchild on the way; Weston, and several nieces and nephew also survive.
