Mr. Allen Joseph Goodman, better known as "Bud" age 67, of Jefferson passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 3:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman and Rev. John Elledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00pm on Monday, August 8, 2016; three hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Goodman was born in Ashe County, NC on July 13, 1949 to the late Joseph Elwood Goodman and Eileen Johnson Goodman Honeycutt. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Bud was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. He worked and was co-owner of Superior Pontiac Dealership. Later he opened his own business, "Bud's Auto Exchange". He enjoyed watching Nascar, where he always pulled for a Chevrolet. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Carol Goodman and a stepfather, Lewis Honeycutt. Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Nancy Huffman Goodman; two sons, Jason Goodman and wife, Dawn, of Warrensville and Joel Goodman and wife, Erica, of West Jefferson; two brothers, Rev. Carl Goodman and wife, Karen, of Salem, VA and Mike Goodman and wife, Faith, of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Barbara Gilley of Jefferson and Susan Ritchie and husband, Cullen, of Spanaway, Washington; three grandchildren, Hayden Goodman, Callie Goodman and Raelynn Goodman; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home of NC, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360. The family will be meeting at the home place at 1009 Friendship Road in Jefferson.
