Mrs. Edna Greene Hartley, age 94, of Jefferson passed away Monday evening, August 8, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Carter and Rev. Martha Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lawn Cemetery in Boone. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00pm on Saturday; prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Hartley was born in Watauga County on November 11, 1921 to the late Linville and Jessie Welborn Greene. She worked at Blowing Rock Hospital as a nurse's aide and later at Ram's Rack in Boone. She made a profession to Baptist faith. She lived for many years at Mountain Village Apartments; where she enjoyed laughing and talking with her many friends. In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bingo and reading. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kilmer Hartley in April 1993; a grandson, Anthony James Hartley; five sisters, Mae Owens, Lear Miller, Texie Watson, Viola Brown and Faye Greene. Mrs. Hartley is survived by a son, Jim Hartley and wife, Angie, of West Jefferson; a brother, Hoover Greene, of Oak Ridge, TN; a grandson, Chris Hartley and wife, Mary Jane, of Mooresville; two great-grandsons, Aaron and Adam Hartley, both of Mooresville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
