Obituary of Alice Viola Richardson

Mrs. Alice Viola Shepherd Richardson, better known as Viola, age 90, of Lansing passed away Wednesday morning, August 10, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 4:00pm at Boone Family funeral home Chapel with Minister Danny Miller, Rev. Fred Richardson and Brother Lundy Finley officiating. The burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Richardson was born in Ashe County on February 23, 1926 to the late Buel and Mae Riddle Shepherd. She was a member of Silas Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook but most of all she loved her family. She was always glad to have her family visit. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Richardson; a son, Ralph Richardson; three brothers, Vance Shepherd, Smith Shepherd and Ralph Shepherd; a sister, Pauline Latham. Mrs. Richardson is survived by two sons, Floyd Richardson and wife, Sharon, of Lansing and Loyd Richardson and wife, Jessie, of Warrensville; three daughters, Lois Miller and husband, Danny, of Lansing, Louise Elliott and husband, Claude, of Lansing and Mary Ruth Osborne and husband, Riley, of Warrensville; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; twelve great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the home place at 299 Richardson Hollow Road in Lansing.
